The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria
Helping Animals, Supporting Community
The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria is an animal sheltering and welfare organization based in Alexandria, Virginia. The League operates the Vola Lawson Animal Shelter from which more than 1,300 animals are adopted each year. In addition to adoptions, the AWLA provides behavior and training advice, education and outreach programs, animal control and licensing, wildlife rescue, reduced cost spay and neuter certificates and much more. All of our activities are supported by a vibrant corps of staff and volunteers.
Through the Olde Towne Dogge Walke, we celebrate the companion animals fortunate enough to have found their permanent homes as we help the thousands of others who seek shelter with us each year.
